Making Your Adoption Plan

It is a loving thing to consider an adoption plan for your baby. You may not be able to parent this child at this time in your life, and this may be for many different reasons. You may be struggling financially, you may not be able to parent another child if you are currently already raising children, your child’s father may not be a part of your life, or you may not have family to assist you or even have a support system at all. Adoption is a responsible and loving choice, and it means making a plan for your child’s life, the life that you dream of for him or her. Know that we can be contacted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please call us even if you just need to talk, and whenever you feel you need us. We provide counseling and emotional support during your pregnancy and afterwards for as long as you need. There is never any cost to our birth parents, and we offer professional and complete adoption services. We will guide you in creating your adoption plan, which may change over the months as we work together. It is very important to AGAPE that you feel confident about your adoption plan, the adoptive parents and our agency.

Birth Parent FAQ

1. What does adoption mean for my baby?

When birth parents choose adoption for their child, they give their child the love and security of having two parents who are emotionally and financially able to parent.

2. How can adoption be good for my baby?

If you are not ready to parent, you can choose to plan for your baby’s future by selecting a stable, loving family to care for your baby. After the birth, you can see your baby, name your baby, and spend time with your baby if you choose to do this. You can be proud of the selfless decision to choose life that you have made on behalf of your child.

3. Do I need an attorney or do I pay my agency to assist me with the adoption?

You do not need an attorney and this help is completely FREE to you. The adoption agency will handle all the legal details for you and the birthfather, free of charge to you.

4. Does your agency offer assistance with medical and living expenses while I am making an adoption plan?

Assistance with medical and living expenses is available through many agencies. For details about how your agency can help you in your particular circumstances, contact an AGAPE social worker.
